Portixol is to the East of Palma within easy walking distance of the main city. Comprising old fishing 'cottages' this area has become increasingly popular and now has a wide variety of bars and restaurants. A feature is the now-famous Hotel Portixol.
The sea-front in this area is very pretty and an attraction to locals and holiday-makers alike. Mostly beach, punctuated by small harbours, the coast continues East to Es Molinar and then to Can Pastilla.
These areas are effectively sea-front suburbs of the main City of Palma de Mallorca and offer a combination of beaches / holiday environment and urban living. They have great character, are already popular and becoming increasingly more so.
Consider these areas if you want the facilities of Palma immediately to hand, but want more of a holiday feel and do not want to be right in the City.
There are never many properties on the market in these areas at any one time so, if you have decided this is what you want, be prepared to be patient. Mallorca Property Partners can always monitor this for you and let you know when interesting opportunities come up.
You should be prepared to pay Euro 250.000 minimum for a two bed apartment in Portixol and good properties with sea views will be more. Good sea views and a location close to the sea-front will be Euro 350.000 upward. The sea-front fishing cottages in Portixol are Euro 750.000 upward and extremely difficult to obtain, hence renovated properties will be in 7 figures. Prices further East for property in Es Molinar are slightly less than Portixol and we recommend this as an interesting area to consider buying.
