Puerto de Andratx . Camp de Mar . St Elm
Camp de Mar is roughly 25km west of Palma de Mallorca. It is a popular and pretty bay area with numerous small
developments as well as villas. Whilst slightly less expensive than Bendinat, property here is sought-after.
From Camp de Mar there is a lovely walk over heather covered heathland and through pine trees to Puerto de Andratx. Historically one of the main fishing ports on Mallorca, Puerto de Andratx is now a popular holiday destination with a range of styles of properties including villas and sea-front community developments of the highest standards. This year the local authorities have effectively
placed a ban on new planning permissions being given out in Puerto de Andratx in order to ensure that the rapid pace
of development here does not spoil the character and attractiveness of the area.
Further up the coast is Sant Elm, a pretty fishing village overlooking the Island of Sa Dragonera,
which is a nature reserve. A recent high quality development of apartments and town houses offers great potential
and is one of our tips as a good place to buy an apartment or townhouse as a holiday home and/or rental investment.
Camp de Mar and Puerto de Andratx are also a focus for luxury community developments although slightly less expensive than Bendinat. The old fishing port character of Puerto de Andratx is an added attraction and to many this is the best location on Mallorca. Water sports, golf and other sports are well catered for in these areas. Sant Telm is smaller and the main buying opportunity there is in the new development noted above.
For a luxury holiday apartment or villa on a beautiful stretch of coastline and within 20 minutes or so of Palma and the airport, these areas are well worth considering.
Allow Euro 260.000 minimum for a 1-bed apartment and Euro 375.000 upward for good 2-bed apartments with sea views in Puerto de Andratx. Good quality villas start from around Euro 750.000 if located slightly inland and Euro 1.000.000 upward in locations with sea views and closer to the coast. Camp de Mar is more affordable with some off-plan sea-view apartments still available from around Euro 300.000. San Telm offers excellent investment potential and a charming location for a holiday home in a quieter location. The new apartments are now all sold but there are still towhouses available from Euro 410.000.
