Soller Old Town . Puerto de Soller . Biniaraix . Fornalutx

From Deia travelling up the coast you come to Puerto de Soller and Soller Old Town. Puerto de Soller is in a beautiful bay and has a unique character having been influenced strongly by the French. Some regard it as similar in some respects to the south of France.

Puerto de Soller has many attractions. There is a sandy beach and the bay is great for swimming and water sports. The town retains its charming fishing-village character, and the surrounding countryside of the bay itself going inland into the Soller Valley is a stunning location with lovely walks.

Some five kilometres inland from Puerto de Soller is Soller Old Town, and the two are connected by trams making getting from one to the other very easy and convenient. The Valley of Soller is one of the main orange growing areas in Mallorca and is also known as Valley de Los Naranjos. There are also lemon and orange groves making this an extremely picturesque area.

Mallorca Property Partners Buying Tips

Puerto de Soller offers both modern apartments and older more traditional properties including townhouses and apartments in converted townhouses. The surrounding villages such as Biniaraix and Fornalutx offer lovely old traditional townhouses and there are some very attractive old country houses in the surrounding area of the Valley of Soller.

Should you consider this area for your property in Mallorca?

If you like the more traditional, cultural and characterful areas mixed with the convenience of the towns of Soller and Puerto de Soller, and also the beach and lovely coastline / mountain scenery, then this area should be on your list for consideration.

Price guide

Price here are lower than in the South West, and it is possible to buy a small "Olivar" in the countryside of the Valley of Soller for as little as Euro 75.000. This would be a very basic and rustic property, but would be many people's dream for a quiet holiday bolt-hole "away from it all". At the more practical end of the spectrum apartments in Soller would be from around Euro 180.000 upward and a good quality 2-bed in a good location would be Euro 250.000 upward.

Townhouses in Soller start from around 200.000 for renovation projects and you should allow a budget of around Euro 300.000 for a small townhouse in good order. Larger, well-located townhouses will be more than this according to what is on offer. Village houses in Biniaraix or Fornalutx will be Euro 350.000 upward, and country houses in the valley vary significantly from Euro 300.000 for small properties rising to 7 figures for larger properties with grounds and commanding the best mountain or sea views.
